★★★★★ This café is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and friendly service that makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with a fresh style. This spot is perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet moment with a great cup of coffee. Plus, it’s kid-friendly, which makes it a perfect spot for the whole family! The food and drinks are nothing short of amazing—everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. And the music? On point! Fiji was playing when we walked in, setting the perfect vibe and making the experience even better. I only wish there was a location on the other side of the water because I would be there every week! That said, the 30-minute drive is so worth it, and I can’t wait to go back again and again. If you haven’t visited this Norfolk gem yet, you’re missing out—highly recommend! 💎

2/15/24 - I have stopped by here a few times now. I cannot get over their breakfast sandwich and bakery goods. Anytime they have something new out, I always get at least one thing so I can try it. My favorite drink so far is their Matcha frap and I add dark chocolate drizzle to it. I have gotten their valentine day brownies, taro cupcake, red velvet, etc. I have also tried their lemonade which was refreshing but it did taste like I was drinking candy and also had carbonation to it. There is definitely a variety of things to try. They also have different menus for the seasons, like winter, Christmas, valentine's, etc. Service is always great too! I am excited to keep coming back to try new things though.

I had so many questions, and the staff was incredibly nice, understanding, and patient with me. The Apelu Lu Iced Latte is absolutely delicious, coconut and hazelnut make it so refreshing for a morning pick-me-up! The Cucumber Watermelon Mint Refresher hits all the taste buds with bright, natural flavors. Both the drinks and the staff made the experience wonderful! We went back for more! You really can’t go wrong with whichever drink you choose, everything has been amazing!

Today was my first time trying Apelu & it didn’t disappoint! I don’t live on this side of town, so I didn’t even know it existed. It was the perfect spot to grab coffee before heading over to sit & enjoy the water this morning. The service was absolutely fabulous! The staff were friendly & the wait for my drink was less than 5 minutes. It was clean & well kept. I will definitely visit again when I’m over that way!

I had my first experience at Apelu Island Cafe and I have to say this is my new favorite cafe! The staff are extremely hard working and were delivering exceptional service during very busy rushes. We ordered the French Vanilla Pistachio cold brew, the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cold brew, the Pimento Cheese Bagel, and the Sweet Dijon Bagel all of which were excellent! The prices are great and so is the atmosphere. I 100% recommend this place to anybody and encourage all to come check this place out! I will be returning no doubt :) Thank you to the whole staff for delivering top notch service!

I stopped here with my daughter for the first time before she headed back home! This was the BEST choice ever!!! My daughter LOVES fresh, natural drinks and food so this was perfect!!! We loved EVERYTHING! The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting, the service was great, the staff were so friendly and helpful!! I will definitely be coming back here often for refreshing drinks, breakfast, and coffee - FOR SURE!!

Apelu Island Cafe is a hidden gem in Norfolk—just a few minutes from the airport, making it a perfect stop before a flight. We tried the iced matcha latte and the iced Apelu Island latte—both were full of flavor without being overly sweet. The taro cold foam was a great touch. We also sampled a few bakery items and really enjoyed the chocolate chip caramel and banana pudding cookies. We’re already looking forward to trying the house coffee cake on our next visit! The space is quiet, family-friendly, and ideal for getting some work done. There are thoughtful touches throughout, like diapers and wipes in the restroom and a play area for smaller kids. The decor is inviting with a mix of seating options—tables, lounge chairs, sofas, even a picnic bench. Just a heads-up: check the hours before heading over—they close early most days. Highly recommend this cozy spot for a flavorful and relaxing experience.

My wife and I cook everything from scratch and with that comes a natural distaste for most restaurants. This is one of the few places we enjoying coming to. They have a great atmosphere, reasonable prices, and delicious food. Our favorite is the pistachio macaroons, pimento cheese bagel and the Apelu island latte. Such a great place to come enjoy with your family. The environment inside is nice and relaxed and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. We love having our dates here!
